Linux falls under the category of an operating system (like MS
Windows, except better in some sense, personal opinion of course).
Linux offers scalability and is extremely stable (my linux server
have been on for close to a year without rebooting and still going).
If you would like to setup your own server at home, Linux is the
way to go. Above and beyond many reasons, it is completely
FREE. Currently there are many distributions of Linux. You
are FREE to trying them all if you like. My favorite distribution
is Red Hat.

download 600MB in a few minutes as opposed to a few hours), you
