The government said Tuesday it has temporarily suspended the hunt for a mass grave believed to contain the remains of American priest James Carney, who disappeared more than two decades ago.
Lorena Calix, spokeswoman for the prosecutor's office overseeing the search, said the operation was delayed because of a temporary lack of funds.
"We believe it will begin at the end of January," she said.
The government had announced on Jan. 12 that a dozen doctors and investigators would start the search this week.
