TREMORS almost as old as Christianity itself ran around Rome last week when once again it was feared the remarkable, old, seemingly frail, ill man who is Pope was threatened with death.
Of course, the waves spread worldwide, wherever Catholicism is practised and beyond.
But it was in Rome, at the hub of power of the Catholic Church, that they were, quite understandably, strongest. Inevitably, they centred on who will be next to carry the mantle of Vicar of Christ.
