Once a week, Benito Villanueva, a construction worker, heads to La Officina on Capital Boulevard in Raleigh to send roughly half his paycheck to his mother and relatives living in his home state of Oaxaca, in southern Mexico.
Villanueva said he prefers to use La Officina, a licensed reseller of Vigo Remittance, because it's close to home, inexpensive and the employees all speak Spanish. Each transfer costs him about $12.
