Playwright August Wilson, a master storyteller, dies at age 60 |

A high school dropout, Mr. Wilson spent much of his youth reading at his neighborhood library in Pittsburgh. At 20 he did his first professional writing: a term paper for his sister comparing Robert Frost and Carl Sandburg. With the $20 she paid him Mr. Wilson bought a typewriter. He went on to win two Pulitzer Prizes for drama, a Tony Award and accolades from audiences and critics.
