Samuel L. Jackson's basketball picture extended its lead at the North American box office on Monday as word of mouth drove business during the Martin Luther King, Jr. U.S. holiday weekend.
"Coach Carter" film has sold about $29.2 million worth of tickets in the four days since opening across the United States and Canada on Jan. 14, according to estimates supplied by its distributor, Paramount Pictures.
After three weekends at the top, Universal Pictures' "Meet the Fockers" slipped to No. 2 with $22.7 million, taking the total for the Ben Stiller comedy to $234.5 million.
