"Star Trek" fans upset by the cancellation of the show's latest series, "Star Trek: Enterprise," will rally at Paramount Studios today to demand the studio keep producing the show, despite poor ratings.
The rally is the main event in a worldwide protest, and organizers plan to raise money to underwrite production of future episodes. Supporters see the campaign as a rerun of a similar fan-driven effort that led to the "Star Trek" revival after the original show was canceled.
"We want to save the show, but we also think that what they're trying to do is phase out 'Star Trek' as a franchise. And we're just not willing to do that," said rally organizer Tim Breazeal, founder of Save Enterprise.
