Playwright/Screenwriter/Director David Mamet (Spartan, Wag the Dog, State and Main) has signed on to a new dark comedy at Columbia Pictures entitled The Bones, according to today's Hollywood Reporter.
The trade scoops that Bones is an adaptation of Seth Greenland's novel that centers around a man named Frank Bones. He's described as "a talented but self-destructive standup comic who reconnects with a past friend, Lloyd Melnick, the hottest comedy writer on television. Frank envies Lloyd's success, and Lloyd is jealous of Frank's talent – a situation that soon spirals out of control."
