Baywatch star David Hasselhoff pleaded no contest to a drink driving charge in Los Angeles and was ordered to enrol in an alcohol programme for six months.

The plea was entered by his lawyer. Hasselhoff, who recently appeared on the London stage in the musical Chicago, was not in court.

Judge Elizabeth Lippitt also imposed a £200 fine, community service and licence restrictions, said Jenaro Batiz-Romero, spokesman for the city attorney’s office.
