When the "velvet teddy bear" beat beanpole Clay Aiken in the 2003 Season Two finale, he weighed in at 360 pounds. In the year and a half since, the Birmingham balladeer packed nearly 100 more pounds.
With a new album, "I Need an Angel," due on Nov. 23, an upcoming tour and a nod for the best Soul/R&B Male Artist award at next Sunday's American Music Awards, Studdard has a lot on his plate.
Last month, he partnered with "Extra" and AOL to make sure it didn't get too full.
