The National Coalition of Blacks for Reparations in America (N'COBRA) is set to open its 15th national conference at Howard University on June 17, co-chair Dorothy Benton-Lewis announced. Lewis, who will be rotated out of her national leadership position as called for by the N'COBRA constitution, said a vast array of activities is planned, including a Gala Reparations Dinner hosted by Michigan Congressman John Conyers, sponsor of the African-American Reparations Study Bill, H.R. 40.
The conference will feature lobbying on Capitol Hill, a Youth Summit, "Running for Justice," a 5K race/walk, a health and healing fair, an African marketplace and workshops that are designed to reflect the work of the various commissions of N'COBRA, Benton-Lewis said. "Each of our commissions develops a different avenue of struggle, and they approach their tasks as if theirs will be the winning strategy for reparations. Therefore the commissions are very vigorous."
