SAN PEDRO SULA, Honduras, July 22 (Reuters) - It's a sweaty day in the tropics, but Joel Miranda is wearing a turtleneck, a long-sleeved dress shirt, blue jeans, thick socks and loafers.
The clothes hide a body covered with tattoos from the neck down, the legacy of a previous life: eight years as a gang member in Los Angeles before he was deported back to his native Honduras and finally cleaned up his act.
He says concealing the crude indigo images of daggers and teardrops is not just about shame. It is about survival.
