Galeed Baptist Church, along with the other churches of the Bladen Baptist Association, are in the process of collecting supplies for children in Honduras through participation in a Shoebox Ministry.
According to Reverend Mike Smith, associate pastor at Galeed who is leading the effort, the need is "unbelievable unless you actually see it."
"Almost all of the people live in shacks with dirt floors and dirt walls," said Smith. "They have almost nothing. Our goal is to supply the boys and girls some of the basic essentials they need to attend school and a few additional items to make their lives more enjoyable.
