A harsh light is about to shine on Shyne's prison phone records.
Rising hip-hopster Jamal "Shyne" Barrow had the proverbial cord cut on his jailhouse phone Monday after officials learned he was conducting a little music business from the pen. The soon-to-be megastar (Godfather Buried Alive, his debut record for Island/Def Jam is expected to enter the Billboard charts in the top five this week with sales around 170,000) also lost face-to-face interview privileges Monday--no doubt causing some furious hair-pulling inside Island Def Jam's publicity department.
