Most of us spend a lot more time at airports than in emergency rooms or courthouses, and while the hours there are usually routine, the ever-threatening potential for disaster isn't.
Small wonder, then, that somebody would pick the locale as the setting for a grand, sweeping, lavish and trashy prime-time soap opera, the perfect place for "ER," "Dynasty" and even the old "Airport" movies to tumble together. Such is the flight plan for "LAX" (9 p.m. Monday, WMAQ-Ch. 5), a self-labeled "dramedy" boasting suitcase bombs, illegal immigrants, high-stakes executive warfare, security threats, sex, drugs and a spiffy rock 'n' roll score.
