The handsome Mexican actor looks as if he has slept in his clothes, and the scraggly beginnings of a beard only make his face look paler. Like a lot of punch-drunk people, he seems to be spoiling for a fight.
However, the only argument surrounding the 25-year-old Garcia at the festival, held earlier this month, is which of his performances in festival films will earn him an Oscar nomination: his portrayal of a transsexual blackmailing a child-abusing priest in Pedro Almodovar's "Bad Education" or of the young Ernesto Guevara (before he became Che) taking a life-changing road trip in "The Motorcycle Diaries," which opens in metro Detroit on Oct. 8.
