It seemed like a difficult assignment. Felix Trinidad returned to the ring last night after more than two years of inactivity to fight Ricardo Mayorga, a sturdy former champion who is capable of scoring a knockout with either hand.
Trinidad made it look easy.
In a fight that was at times riveting for its sheer violence, Trinidad outgunned the game Mayorga and scored an eighth-round knockout in the scheduled 12-round bout at Madison Square Garden. There was a bit of ring rust early on, but once Trinidad found his target, he hit it all night.
