The crackdown on the Mara Salvatrucha gang, also known as MS-13, was ordered by FBI Director Robert Mueller after several high-profile murders blamed on the gang in the suburbs of Washington.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials last week also announced the addition of David Rivera, a known MS-13 member, to its list of most wanted fugitives. Rivera, who is wanted for ignoring a deportation order and for questioning about a string of murders, is the first MS-13 gang member to make the Immigration and Customs Enforcement most wanted fugitive list.
