 CNN in Spanish and other national and international news programs every day for the last 10 days have brought horrifying pictures of the destruction in the New Orleans area into Honduran homes. With 125,000 Hondurans living in New Orleans according to Spanish daily La Prensa, including hundreds of Garifunas, the question on everyone’s mind was --how are my old friends, neighbors or family?

Templo Social club will host a community drive to aid the victims of the devastating Hurricane Katrina who have left thousands of families stranded in the Louisiana, Alabama and Texas region. This effort comes after representatives from Templo Night Club, known to be the Punta Rock Mecca in New York, sought community members to engage in the relief efforts of the aftermath of a hurricane that have destroyed communities.

| 101 killed in Honduran prison fire |

brunei-online.com reports that - A fire raged through a prison in the Honduran town of San Pedro Sula early Monday, claiming the lives of some 100 inmates, officials said.
"101 people are dead," Wilmer Torres, a police spokesman, said.
Witnesses reported hearing an explosion before the fire broke out.
