Despite pressure from a Louisiana senator, the State Department has rejected a Louisiana's businessman's request for help to challenge Honduran officials who allegedly seized land he had hoped to convert into a regional airport.
The land in question includes a landing strip built during Oliver North's effort to fight Sandinista rebels.
On March 30, the State Department sent Laurence August a letter saying that he had not "exhausted all local remedies," which it said was a precondition before it could take up the businessman's case.
