These images, captured by Tisch alum Pedro Linger-Gasiglia, tell the story of a 1981 massacre in an El Salvadoran village. American-backed troops killed almost 800 villagers, nearly half of whom were children under 10.
Linger-Gasiglia was on hand last Thursday night for the opening reception of his exhibition, "Digging for Truth: The Massacre of El Mozote Twenty Years Later." In a black-and-white photo essay with 30 shots, Linger-Gasiglia documents the exhumation and identification of massacre victims during a five-day military operation.
