Rescuers have searched three-quarters of a jungle volcano in Nicaragua without finding any sign of the missing British and American tourists, Police Commissioner Ramon Calderon said yesterday.
“The only thing remaining is to search the fourth part of the 36 square miles of the volcano, and that is the most rugged, mountainous zone,” Calderon said.
More than 40 rescue workers have been searching since Saturday for Briton Nicholas Roth, 28, and Jordan Alexander Ressler, 23, of San Diego, at the Maderas volcano 60 miles south-east of Managua. They had set out on their climb two days earlier.
